Community Impact: Water Mission - Walk for Water

Micropump is honored to be able to sponsor one of our key distributors, Burt Process, for their onsite trail walk at their headquarters in Connecticut. On Oct 16, 2021, teams and individuals will walk 2.5 miles to raise funds to help combat the global crisis. The distance is designed to simulate what children in remote villages have to endure to gather water for their families every day.

Walk For Water was created to bring awareness to the global water crisis. Many people are not aware that one third of the world’s population lacks access to safe water and the negative impact lack of quality water can have on individuals and communities, etc. Walk For Water sheds light on this crisis, supports a great organization and lets individuals participate in the effort to combat the crisis.

It is just a small part we can do to help make an impact. We are inspired by the millions of women and children who walk 5-10 miles every day to collect water that is often contaminated and life-threatening. While the Micropump team would need to walk way more than 2.5 miles to get to Connecticut, some of our staff is walking virtually.

Water Mission
All proceeds will benefit Water Mission (https://watermission.org/), a nonprofit organization that has worked for 20 years to provide access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene wash solutions for remote communities and disaster relief areas. Water Mission is active on the ground in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and Southeast Asia along with many other locations and countries worldwide. Additionally, they work to improve learning and collaboration for best practices and standards for safe water through the Global Water Center. Through collaboration and sharing resources including training, equipping, and support services, they increase the effectiveness and scale of organizations to improve efforts to reach 2 billion people with safe water.
